Mazda 3 (2012) [Reviews]
Mazda March 2012 made its American debut at the Salon of 2011 New York International Auto. Face lift with a more refined exterior and interior, Mazda 3 2012 is also the first North American application of innovative technologies SKYACTIV Mazda fuel economy and result oriented, achieving 40 mpg on the highway. The Mazda 3 is the best-selling model worldwide Mazda vehicles, accounting for almost half the sales of Mazda in the U.S., causing the vehicle of a candidate for the introduction of consumers seeking SKYACTIV dynamic performance together with high energy efficiency.
"SKYACTIV is not just a motor, the next generation of advanced vehicle performance and efficiency," said Jim O'Sullivan, president and CEO of Mazda North American Operations (MNAO). "It embodies the philosophy Mazda SKYACTIV only service vehicles are fun to drive, the satisfaction of owning and environmentally responsible, and what better vehicle to launch the Mazda 3, one of the most exciting sport compact on the road."
Redesigned for model year 2010, the updated 2012 Mazda 3 is the first use of technology SKYACTIV Mazda North America, receives a new gasoline engine SKYACTIV-G and brand SKYACTIV disc and six-speed automatic the newly-MT SKYACTIV six-speed manual transmission. It also strengthened the sporty driving dynamics, handling and a comfortable cabin space. The exterior design has been refined to express a more aggressive attitude, with new interior appointments provide additional functionality without compromising on the touch screen and feel of quality. Additional security features complete the package.
Exterior attractive, efficient
The development of mid-generation Mazda 3 also covers its exterior design. The current model expressions rich and bold attitude has been updated to provide a well-toned look that communicates an even higher quality and curb appeal. Stylized features improved aerodynamics and give the Mazda 3 2012 a more sophisticated look that blends perfectly with the functionality.
The exterior of the Mazda 3 2012, finally has a more tense atmosphere with a new front fascia and updated five-point grille opening, both sedan and hatchback styles. The new design features include delicately sculpted forms around openings in the outer edge of the front bumper and a rounded shape of the fog lamp (changed from the version of the horizontal scale of the current model).
Mazda 3 sedan and equipped with a gasoline engine SKYACTIV-G will still be distinguished with exclusive items such as an entirely new engine cover with a finish of deep metallic blue paint, with black areas along both sides; headlight units with a transparent blue ring around the center of the lens to emphasize the character of the car and a badge with a "SKYACTIV" logo on a bright blue background.
Aerodynamics plays strongly to the carbon footprint of the vehicle. Improved aerodynamics for better fuel economy and further reduce CO2 emissions while contributing to the stability of handling. In this spirit, the design was optimized front bumper, rocker panels and parts, to better streamline the movement of air under the floor. The shape of the lower front bumper has been redesigned for pages and fins protruding below has been enlarged. This adjustment effectively distribute air affects the engine compartment and spoiler front wheel, remove the turbulence in the engine cooling and along the sides of the body.
Other AIDS continues to optimize the aerodynamic air flow through and around the vehicle is expanding and deepening cap (on models with engine SKYACTIV-G), added under the floor, covering about 10 percent and eliminate the vertical grooves in the more compact design, increased stiffness of the front tire deflectors to prevent warping and to create a good balance between the cooling of the brakes, aerodynamic performance and handling, and added a clamshell-shaped muffler to sit in a corner of the road surface.
The devil is truly in the details, and Mazda engineers have not missed a single. The end result is a CD 0.27 for the sedan (SKYACTIV equipped model), an improvement of about seven percent compared to 0.29 Cd of the current models. The hatchback version has a CD 0.29 (SKYACTIV equipped model), also an increase of about seven percent compared to 0.31 Cd of the current models.
The exterior is complemented by renewed with new 16 - and 17-inch designs aluminum wheels. The 16-inch wheel (all models SKYACTIV) now has an area of 10 twisted spokes, rose seven-spoke design of the current model, and the wheel of 17 inches (about 2.5 liters of models s) is characterized by enlarged openings between each radio, creating a look that adds a slight feel even more dynamic. Models 16-inch wheels, aluminum wheels, 18-inch will remain unchanged.
Of high quality, intuitive interior
The interior is no less re-imagined as outside the vehicle, and was developed with the ultimate goal of an attractive cabin and feel better. From the Board - the greatest scenery in the cabin - the black is currently used in the shift console and door to offer a more aggressive look. Furthermore, satin and polished silver details are added to areas commonly used by consumers, such as outer rings consist of three switches and temperature control audio control panel and vents in the center pane. In addition to creating a sense of sophistication, the pattern of silver on a black background accentuates the location of the common controls and switches, which increases readability and decreases the amount of time drivers take their eyes off the road so , reduce operational errors.
Multi Information Display (MID) and liquid crystal display (LCD), also received a color adjustment, changing the red text and graphics of the current model easier to read white. 2012 Mazdaspeed3 has a touch of silver to replace the existing Red and Silver accents is removed the graphics that adorn the top of the knob. The entire Mazdaspeed3 is now the gear knob Leather steering wheel. The parking brake lever is also wrapped in leather, to create a single coordination, which makes it look like even more sporty car, and to give more interior refinement Mazdaspeed3.
The sporty two meters from the design of the control panel itself remains unchanged, but stands by the new solid white illuminated graphic meters, which provide easy reading even in bright light. The color of the backlight also vary from the standard gray and trim levels and a high dynamic gradation of red MAZDASPEED3. SKYACTIV vehicles will have a blue backlight and graphic panels white gradient tube. Also available will be a shift knob decorated with elegant satin-polished veneer on the bottom and a silver ring, surrounded SKYACTIV-plate logo on the top.
Proof that even a mid-cycle refresh, engineers really sweat the details, the amount of head start button before the screening SKYACTIV drive models with increased almost 0.16 inches above the current model, resulting in better grip feel and smooth moves in both directions, forward-backward and left-right.
Improving the visual design has also found its way into the comfortable seats comfortable and create a strong impression of the dimensions of the fabric of new models in three dimensions. On the black seats with non-leather models, gray Cross son were added to enhance the contrast and create a sense of casual comfort. Dune color seats are two colors light and dark across threads to create a calm, mature interior ambience. Higher levels of trim (Touring and Grand Touring) receives another three-dimensional model upholstery to create a richer expression of the quality of the substantia nigra.
Additional security
All Mazda 3 and MAZDASPEED3 models continue to be equipped with a high level of standard safety features. An option for 2012 is a new Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) system. The BSM system drivers AIDS by avoiding accidents that often occur in situations close distance, such as brushing against another vehicle during lane changes and merging traffic. 24GHz radar sensors at the rear of the vehicle designed to detect vehicles approaching within 13 meters to the left or right, and within 26 feet from the rear. When a vehicle is detected in the blind spot, the lights housed in the side mirrors lights. If a turn signal is activated when the lights are on, they blink and a beep is an additional warning. Also available is an optional Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS), auto leveling bi-xenon.
All Mazda 3s, regardless of trim level or choice of engine, Mazda will continue to own ultra-rigid safety body structure, which includes a deformable outer area that absorb impact forces, and the construction of Mazda's Triple H that applies to H-shaped reinforcement bar to the floor, the roof of the body and suppress the deformation of the passenger and minimize the likelihood of injury during impact. 2012 models, the B-pillar reinforcement has been extended for more than seven inches, and more high-strength steel has the added stiffness of the body even more.
Standard features include advanced security six airbags (dual front advanced, front seat-mounted side curtains and full length) with side airbags improved dual chamber, anti-lock brakes (ABS) with electronic brake force distribution (EBD) with Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) with Traction Control System (TCS), front and rear stabilizer bar, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), a "crush" brake and accelerator pedal assembly, and telescoping steering column, three anchor points for all seating positions, front seatbelts with pretensioners and force limiters and lower anchors and tethers for children (latch). The Mazda 3 is simply not an option.

Expert Review: 2011 Mazda CX-7
Expert Review: 2011 Mazda CX-7 - The Mazda CX-7 is sporty, sleek and distinctive, yet functional, spacious and comfortable, with decent interior space and all the proper safety equipment. It is available with an agile four-cylinder turbo as the Kia Sportage SX or the Acura RDX, or a naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine as the Honda CR-V or Toyota RAV4.
You will find the Mazda CX-7 is fun to drive, excellent stability at high speed and maneuverability. Mazda CX-7 shines curves, something known as the Mazda.
The Mazda CX-7 is in its fifth year, introduced for 2007 when crossovers (SUVs with the chassis of a car, not truck) were a new idea. They offer the SUV high seating position and cargo capacity, with the more agile steering and smoother ride of a car. Also, fuel mileage is better than with a heavier and boxier truck-based SUV. The CX-7 was revised for 2010, with increased body rigidity, stiffened dampers, and reduced noise, vibration and harshness. Inside, it got a new dashboard with electronic equipment upgrades. The biggest change for 2011 is a new model, the i Touring, which adds equipment to the base model with the 2.5-liter four-cylinder.
Under the hood is 2.5-liter engine making 161 horsepower and using a 5-speed automatic transmission. A 244-horsepower 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder is also available, using a 6-speed automatic.
The base 2.5-liter engine is well matched to the Mazda CX-7, providing adequate acceleration from a stop, though it lacks a bit in midrange punch. It's smooth and works well with the 5-speed automatic transmission, well enough that the costlier and more complex 6-speed isn't needed, reserved instead for the sportier turbo.
The turbocharged engine has more midrange power than the base engine, making passing a much easier prospect. Power builds smoothly from a standstill. The 6-speed automatic transmission shifts well and adapts well to different driving situations with impressive torque at low engine speeds.
The base engine is EPA rated at 20 mpg city/28 mpg highway. You pay for the extra power in the 2.3-liter turbo, with fuel mileage of 17/24 mpg with FWD and a lackluster 15/21 mpg with AWD.
Even though it's been around since 2007, the Mazda CX-7 sports the latest version of Mazda's styling theme, and it still looks sleek and fresh. The interior makes no less of a statement than the exterior. Some design features work well, others not so well. Overall, the CX-7 interior seems chunky and a bit complicated, not as friendly and functional as the Honda CR-V and the Toyota RAV4.
In the interior of the Mazda hit the CR-V and RAV4 legroom in the front seat and rear seat headroom, but there is at least the legroom in the rear seats is a substantial two inches with 36.4 inches. Kia Sportage hit the CX-7 also, with 37.9 inches. The cargo space with rear seats folded, the CX-7 is a distant third behind Honda and Toyota, but the Kia wins.
Over rough pavement, the suspension is firm without being rigid, but sharp bumps can be severe. And despite good engine compartment and underbody insulation, transmit tire road noise in the cabin, which is also very quiet. We found the CX-7 AWD worked reasonably well on paved roads.

Design: "Beast sophisticated"
We wanted to design a truck that car lovers would be very happy and proud to own. We identified a unique and expressive people find desirable and wanted it to be perceived as strong and reliable. This led us to define the concept as a "sophisticated beast."
As Ryo Yanagisawa, the head designer is a new BT-50, said. "Message of the Mazda brand is a Zoom-Zoom, which refers to the feelings of motion first experienced as a child The new Mazda BT-50, we tried to express this sentiment through planning, and paid a lot of inspiration from different. "movements" in the world around us, for example, we had a photograph lions looked magnificent beast, his muscles, all accumulate as if he were going to pounce on its prey His tendons were stretched ready to strike, and his mane framed a strong male gaze that seemed to say .. 'I am proud of the king of beasts "profile!, the lion seemed to be so smart and strong. I wanted to design a project of this image is loaded. This inspiration was based on emotional design that we have worked hard with all the new BT-50. "
Exterior - Styling Lively and introduction
It does not reduce the strength or functionality, we wanted to give the exterior of the new Mazda BT-50 with a sporty design, full of movement, that would make people want to come in and immediately drive. Sharp lines are the proud owners are looking for.
The machine is ready for the beauty and individuality that you recognize at a glance from any angle, up to 100 meters away.
Dynamic wedge proportions evoke the image of large predators going to pounce on unsuspecting prey. This is unlike any other utility.
Casting off conventional rectangular image of a utility, sporty and dynamic lines are in harmony with the rest of the range Mazda cars.
Other developments Mazda traditional wings prominent, muscular lines flow from the wings on the sides.
Front bumper with bold presence, overwhelming and rear individual
Mazda family face, the five-point grille, is developed in a more impressive look with headlights and a chrome strip forms a large pentagon.
Lighthouses have a boomerang-shaped fat, detail and prepare a functional beauty.
The first segment - the taillights are stretched horizontally to reach the corners and the whole back door, is a sporty and sophisticated view of the back, reminiscent of a premium SUV.
Interior - Athletic and Personal Space
We wanted to give the interior The new Mazda BT-50 sports and more personal atmosphere integrates a dynamic exterior and create a comfortable space to rival Mazda's current standard for passenger cars. The cabin is designed to envelop the driver and provide an environment that supports the driving enthusiast. Bring your driving experience pre-and reactive sport utility exceeds the standard.
The dashboard has an asymmetrical design to create an optimal space on each side, to reassure the wrap around the driver and an open space for the passenger.
Four panel of metal bands in bold in the door trim and center console side expresses the dynamism and seems to support the interior.
An outline metallic highlights two cylindrical feet, and connects via a central reservation in order to improve readability and improve the sport, driver-focused feel of the dashboard.
The control panel of the switch panel and climate control, and driver independent temperature control on the passenger side, forming a beautifully designed user interface.
With a modern and refined design both inside and outside, the new Mazda BT-50 will raise the bar in the utility segment for the first time to provide a realistic alternative to the family car and 4x4 SUV.

Mazda 3 Sedan 2011[reviews]
In 2012, Mazda 3 made its U.S. debut at the Salon of 2011 New York International Auto. Face-lifted with a more refined exterior and interior, the Mazda 3 2012 is also the first application in North America by Mazda SKYACTIV innovative technology to fuel economy and performance oriented that achieve 40 mpg on the highway. Mazda 3 model is best-selling Mazda vehicles worldwide and accounts for almost half the sales of Mazda in the U.S., which makes the car a perfect candidate to introduce SKYACTIV consumers who are looking for dynamic performance combined with high efficiency of fuel.
"SKYACTIV not just the engine, is the next generation of advanced vehicle performance and efficiency," said Jim O'Sullivan, president and CEO of Mazda North American Operations (MNAO). "SKYACTIV reflects Mazda's design philosophy of only those vehicles that are fun to drive, a pleasure, and its eco-friendly and there is no better vehicle in the Mazda 3 starts, one of the exciting compact sports cars on the road."
Redesigned for model year 2010, the freshened 2012 Mazda 3 is the first application of the technology SKYACTIV Mazda North America, get a new gasoline engine SKYACTIV-G and the new SKYACTIV-Drive six-speed automatic transmission and the new-MT SKYACTIV six-speed manual transmission. It also enhanced the sporty driving dynamics, handling and a comfortable cabin space. The exterior design has been refined to express a bolder, with new interiors to create additional features without sacrificing the feel and sense of quality. Additional security features complete the package.
Mazda 3 SKYACTIV reach new heights
In addition to the Mazda 3 MZR current 2.0-liter twin-head-cam 16-valve four-cylinder engine is completely new high-powered direct injection SKYACTIV-G, 2.0-liter gasoline. Coupled with the standard six-speed manual MT-SKYACTIV SKYACTIV-drive or the optional six-speed automatic transmission, SKYACTIV is available in sedan or station wagon models. MZR 2.0-liter is still available in the current manual five series. MZR 2.0-liter-equipped models are also available in the current five-speed automatic optional.
Approximately 4.4 pounds less than the current MZR 2.0-liter, 2.0-liter multi-hole injectors endorse SKYACTIV to improve the characteristics of fuel sprays, and developed the piston cavity mode, which provide a longer burn time short and prevents the effect of power and torque of the engine knocking. Pumping losses also decreased by using two sequential valve timing (S-VT).
Mazda March 2012 reached a high compression ratio of 12.0:1 and provides 155 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 148 lb-ft of torque at 4,100 rpm. (The PZEV version of this engine are sold in California and other states produces 154 hp at 6000 rpm and 148 lb-ft of torque at 4100 rpm).
Compared to current 2.0-liter Mazda 3 liter engine, the maximum effect of SKYACTIV equipped Mazda 3 2012 has increased by about five percent (of 148 horsepower at 6500 rpm) and torque has increased by about 10 percent (from 135 lb.-ft. at 4500 rpm). With an improved torque coupled with a drive control, using the coordinated control of engine and transmission. Mazda 3s with technology excels SKYACTIV dynamic response, future maintenance of the Zoom-Zoom concept of unity between car and driver
Fuel economy also gets a combination SKYACTIV thrust engine and transmission. If equipped with a G-SKYACTIV gasoline engine and an optional six-speed SKYACTIV-drive automatic 2012 Mazda 3 sedan to reach the score EPA 40 mpg on the highway, about 21 percent improvement of the current MZR 2.0 liters is equipped with the optional five-speed automatic. With a fuel capacity of 14.5 liters, 2012 Mazda 3 sedan with the SKYACTIV is a potential area of 540 km, which is still a gallon of fuel remaining. Mpg sedan version will also improve the city 17 percent of 28 mpg. If equipped with an MT-SKYACTIV six-speed manual, sedan is rated at an estimated fuel economy of 27 city/39 highway.
Mazda 3 sedan with the MZR 2.0-liter engine is EPA fuel economy of 25 city/33 highway grade standard five-speed manual and 24 city/33 highway with the optional five-speed automatic.
The previously available only in 2.5-liter MZR, Mazda 3 five-door hatchback will now be offered in the United States, where SKYACTIV-G, 2.0-liter gasoline. This is the Mazda 3 sedan is expected to deliver 27 city/38 highway (SKYACTIV-MT), and 28 city/38 highway (SKYACTIV Drive). Estimates slightly lower than the street can be considered as the aerodynamics and different weight ratio greater than a sedan and wagon. However, the sedan has a driving range of well over 500 km of driving the same tank size sedan. MZR 2.0-liter is not available in the sedan.
Greater fuel efficiency comes with a Mazda 2012 3 SKYACTIV is a direct result of combining all the best features of today's electronic technology. For SKYACTIV Drive, the main advantages of a conventional automatic transmission, continuously variable transmission (CVT) and Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) have been combined. In addition, torque converter lock-up clutch has been developed to ensure a minimum reduction of fuel economy and the growth of direct feeling.
For SKYACTIV-MT, the objective was to achieve a sense of discrepancy that is sporty, fast and responsive to the driver. To achieve this goal, it was not only leverage the race shortened by about 10 percent of the current six-speed manual (only available in models equipped with 2.5-liter engine or 2.3-liter l-liter direct injection turbo engine ignition ignition), but other technologies have been used as: a type of system down, synchronization ball lock type, change annihilator workload levels and location two and the third gear on a common shaft. By reconfiguring the gearbox six-speed manual today, had its weight reduced by about 4.4 pounds because of the need for fewer components while providing a feeling of moving faster and sharper. Call it a little "MX-5 Miata-ness" in the third Mazda
Also available on the 2012-liter Mazda 3 is the acclaimed Mazda 2.5-liter engine. Meanwhile SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter, 2.5 liter power plant technology as well. It has an aluminum block with cylinder liners were made of a molybdenum-alloy steel that provides strength and stiffness generally not seen in the larger displacement four-cylinder engines. A forged steel crankshaft provides resistance at high speed, but to ensure rigidity low NVH characteristics. In addition, double balance shafts located in the crankcase to cancel second-order noise and vibration. The deep skirt block is designed for added stiffness and bearing caps are built with a ladder-type reinforcement down the block. To minimize noise and vibration typically found on larger displacement four-cylinder engine, the damper at the front of the crankshaft has two masses listening. At the end also end a flexible drive NVH borders.
Fuel is supplied to the intake ports with an electronic control system Sequential fuel injection. Ignition coils are modular units located directly above the candles. Push Shim-less maintenance free. Lightweight pistons are coated with a special anti-friction fabric and equipped with low voltage rings for better gas consumption. Sintered powdered metal connecting rods and lighter full floating wrist pins minimize reciprocating weight.
Providing 167 hp at 6000 rpm and 168 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm, the MZR 2.5-liter is available with a six-speed manual transmission or a five-speed electronically controlled automatic with manual change. (The PZEV version of this engine sold in California and other states produces 165 hp at 6000 rpm and 167 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm). The MZR 2.5-liter engine has EPA figures of 20 city and 28 highway with a manual transmission and the city on 22 and 29 highway with automatic transmission.
Engaging, effective external
This mid-generation development of the Mazda 3 also extends to his appearance. The current pattern of expression of the rich and courageous has been updated to provide well-toned seems that the transmission of superior quality and curb appeal. Increased aerodynamics, and features a stylized 2012 Mazda 3 will be more sophisticated, blending perfectly with the functionality.
Mazda 3 sedan and hatchback models with gasoline engines will continue SKYACTIV-G awarded exclusive items like a new engine cover to deep metallic blue with black sections along each side of the headlamps equipped with ring transparent blue around the central lens to emphasize the distinctiveness of the vehicle, and a badge with "SKYACTIV" logo on a blue background.
Aerodynamics plays strongly to the carbon footprint of a vehicle. Improve aerodynamic performance provides greater fuel economy and further reducing CO2 emissions while contributing to the stability of operation. In this sense, the front bumper has been optimized as part of the base, more effectively facilitate the flow of air that travels under the ground. The shape of the bottom of the front bumper has been redesigned to overcome the front and the wings were made under the greatest. This setting allows you to distribute the airflow hitting the engine compartment and the tires front baffle, which eliminates the turbulence in the engine cooling as well as along the sides.
Other help more air through the rationalization around the vehicle aerodynamics and includes the widening and flattening of the cap (on models with engine SKYACTIV-G), which increases the floor under a blanket 10 per cent and elimination of vertical grooves for a smooth design and increased rigidity of the front tire deflectors to prevent warping and establishing a balance between the cooling of the brakes, aerodynamic performance and stability for handling and quiet, added a shell that sits on the corner of the road surface.
The exterior look is completed by day new 16 - and 17-inch alloy wheels designs. The 16-inch wheels (on all models SKYACTIV) now has 10 twisted spokes flat, increasing the current model, seven-spoke design and 17-inch wheels (2.5-liter S models) is characterized by enlarged openings between each department, creating a look that adds to a lighter brand even more dynamic. Design for steel wheels and 16-inch alloy wheels of 18 inches remains unchanged.
High quality, intuitive Interior
Inside was a re-imagined as an exterior of a vehicle, and was developed in the cabin end of attractive targets and a feeling of superior quality. From the cluster - the largest cabin of the landscape - black, and is now used throughout the center console and door turn to give an even tougher. Including silver, satin detail has been added to areas often work as consumers, as the outer rings of the three climate control switches and the audio control panel and the center air vents of the panel. In addition to creating a greater sense of refinement, the silver-black color scheme is aggravated by the position of these common controls and switches, which increases the readability and reduces the time the drivers take their eyes off the road, thereby reducing errors operation.
The Multi-Information Display (MID) and liquid crystal display (LCD) were also adjustments of colors, from red text and graphics of the current model of an easier target to read. The 2012 MAZDASPEED3, the key money also replace the current graphic red and silver decorative accents the top of the shifter is removed. The shifter for all skin MAZDASPEED3 is wrapped. Parking brake is also leather-wrapped button to establish a unified coordination that gives the interior an even more sporting and gives the most sophisticated MAZDASPEED3 interior.
The sporty two meters from the design of the instrument cluster itself remains unchanged, but it is stressed in new meters continuously lit white graphics, which offers better readability even in bright daylight. The backlight color also varies depending on the model: gray dynamic and high standard equipment levels and a red MAZDASPEED3 modulation. SKYACTIV vehicles include a light blue gradient background and panel meters white graphics. Will be offered a style shift knob decorated with satin-polish veneer on the lower section and a silver ring with logo surrounded SKYACTIV plate on top.
That shows that even a mid-cycle refresh, engineers really sweat the details, the amount of forward projection of the gear head on models equipped SKYACTIV-Drive has increased by about 0.16 inch in current model, resulting in better grip and feel of the smooth movement in both directions, forward, backward and left-right.
Improved visual designs have also found their way into the comfortable seats comfortable and create a strong sense of the dimension of the new three-dimensional models of the fabric. In black leather seats, no models, gray son of the Cross have been added to enhance the contrast and create a sense of casual comfort. Seats dunes are bright and dark color cross threads to create a quiet interior matures. Higher trim levels (Touring and Grand Touring) received another three-dimensional model of the seat fabric to create a richer expression of quality in black fabric.

Mazda Concept Mining [reviews]
Minago Mazda Mazda concept car is a new technology SkyActiv Kodo and new design language, pointing the way for the next generation of Mazda cars to come.
Mazda Mining concept made its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show 2011 as an expression of new technologies and language Mazda SKYACTIV new concept of Kodo. He is the first model that has properties that can be seen in the next generation of Mazda cars.
For this reason, Mazda has fully integrated its technology SKYACTIV in all aspects of driving performance, including powertrain, chassis, and even the design of the body. As the second concept to integrate the new Mazda "KODO - Soul of Motion" design language, the challenges conventions Mining with emotional design and exhilarating performance.

Mazda Mining is an elegant expression of the stored energy. In Japanese, its name evokes the image of an object that vibrates with energy and reflects the vehicle's speed, agility and fiery character. For mining, Mazda's designers looked at different aspects of cheetah hunting. The head of a cheetah is high, while the long-limbed, powerful and flexible thin keep your torso upright so you can change direction quickly at high speed. Mazda's designers set out to evoke the time when an animal contracts its muscles, ready for the sprint and the groove of their prey. Moreover, a slot can be in either direction, an idea which is the function of a crossover SUV with nimble agility of darts in an expanding urban landscape.

Wind turbulence and drag are the enemies of performance. They compromise responsiveness and stability. Undermine fuel economy. And disrupt a quiet ride. We were determined to defeat their fun-spoiling ways when we designed the 2011 MAZDA 6. We subjected it to 360 degrees of wind tunnel testing. Applying what we learned front to back, side to side, top to bottom. We even added an innovative system of underbody shields and deflectors to manage airflow. The well-honed results: A performance-enhancing, fuel-friendly coefficient of drag (0.27 Cd) that’s lower than Accord or Camry. And sophisticated styling that’s beautiful from every angle.
Purposefully sculpted outside mirrors and sleek A-pillars help significantly reduce the amount of air turbulence and drag that the 2011 MAZDA 6 generates at speed. Extensive wind tunnel testing inspired Mazda engineers to endow the 2011 MAZDA 6 with a remarkably aerodynamic windshield rake of 26 degrees, an advanced underbody airflow management system and, ultimately, a more aerodynamically efficient exterior design than Accord or Camry. Even the highly refined roofline, rear window and trunk lid of the MAZDA 6 play important roles in helping minimize air turbulence, drag and wind noise resulting in a quieter cabin and improved fuel efficiency.

Two very powerful reasons to drive a 2011 MAZDA 6 eagerly await your command. The first, a potent 272-hp 3.7-liter DOHC V6 that propels the 2011 MAZDA 6s, utilizes variable valve timing to both optimize performance and deliver impressive fuel efficiency. As well as provide more power and torque than Accord or Camry. The second, a spirited, yet fuel-efficient, 170-hp 2.5-liter DOHC 4-cylinder also with variable valve timing—powers all MAZDA 6i models. And with the available automatic, delivers a remarkable 31 mpg highway/22 mpg city.† So make your choice. Either way you go, you’ll get the power and fuel efficiency you demand. And the rush of adrenaline you deserve.
6-speed Sport AT automatic. The result is an incredibly responsive and remarkably smooth powertrain
that delivers a responsible 27 mpg highway/18 mpg city. A 6-speed Sport AT automatic transmission is also standard on MAZDA 6s models. It combines the convenience of an automatic with the added control and fun of a manual-shift mode. A 5-speed Sport AT automatic is standard on 2011 MAZDA 6i Touring, Touring Plus and Grand Touring and available on the Sport model. A slick-shifting 6-speed manual gearbox is standard on the 2011 MAZDA 6i Sport model. Multiple-cone synchronizers in the first four gears help ensure smooth and precise performance. 4 A spirited, yet fuel-efficient, 170-hp 2.5-liter DOHC 4-cylinder, also featuring variable valve timing, is standard on all MAZDA 6i models. Equipped with the available 5-speed Sport AT automatic, it delivers a pump-friendly 31 mpg highway/22 mpg city.

Mazda’s sports-car heritage really comes out to play in the MAZDA 6. Control and handling are quick, agile and responsive. Courtesy of the dialed-in precision of its engine-speed-sensing variable-assist rack-and-pinion steering system. To further enhance the driving fun, a sophisticated 4-wheel independent suspension pairs a responsive double-wishbone design up front with an advanced multilink design at the rear. As with every Mazda, safety engineering goes hand in hand with performance engineering in the MAZDA 6. So to help ensure uniformly linear and fade-resistant stops, power-assisted 4-wheel disc brakes, Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution are standard on MAZDA 6. Also standard are a Traction Control System and Dynamic Stability Control. They all work seamlessly as one to deliver the most important standard feature of all: Driver confidence.
Mazda’s Blind Spot Monitoring System is an innovative radar-based driverwarning system that’s standard on all 2011 MAZDA 6 Touring Plus and Grand Touring models. Whenever its dual, rear-facing sensors detect a vehicle (or other object) within the driver’s left or right blind spot, the system calculates its relative speed and distance then warns the driver. An in-mirror warning light appears in the appropriate side mirror to visually warn the driver of an approaching vehicle or object. If the driver signals a lane change, the warning light also blinks, and a cabin warning chime sounds.

In traffic, as in nature, the fittest survive. That’s why we made an ingenious, radar-based Blind Spot Monitoring System standard on both the MAZDA6 Touring Plus and Grand Touring models. The system is both simple and automatic. Sensors in back detect objects in your blind spot. A warning light in your mirror accompanied by a chime in the cockpit instantly alert you. Danger is averted. And you journey safely on. You won’t find this innovative technology on Accord or Camry. But maybe that will change when they realize it’s a lot more reliable than “Honey, can I get over?”
Yesterday’s tired terminology doesn’t do justice to the cockpit in the 2011 MAZDA6. Starting with the available Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry, you immediately sense a very driver-centric experience about to happen. Once inside, the 2011 MAZDA6 Grand Touring cradles you in an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat that’s leather-trimmed and heated. Dramatic electroluminescent gauges and automatic climate control with dual zones amp up both style and comfort. A Multi Information Display (MID) screen conveniently includes the helpful rearview camera.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel features controls for audio and cruise control, plus Bluetooth functions. While its standard tilt and telescopic functions help you achieve your perfect driving position. Add the available Tech Package, and the driver’s seat adjusts automatically to your preset driving position as you
open the door. Rearview and driver’s outside mirror are auto-dimming. The headlights feature an auto on/off setting. Even the engine fires up simply with the touch of a button thanks to Mazda’s keyless Push Button Start System. And all as you happily realize that a driving experience that’s rare even in pricier sport
sedans is only just beginning.

| 2011 MAZDA6 |
Push Button Start is just one of many compelling features in the available Technology Package offered on
both MAZDA 6 Grand Touring models. Convenient steering-wheel-mounted controls on the MAZDA 6 Touring allow you to manage the functions of everything from the audio system and cruise control to the Bluetooth handsfree phone and audio capabilities. Mazda’s Advanced Keyless Entry & Start System enables you to remotely unlock or lock all four doors, open or close the front windows and moonroof, or even start the engine without inserting a key. Offered on both MAZDA 6 Grand Touring models as part of the available Technology Package.
The advanced technology in 2011 MAZDA 6 Grand Touring doesn’t ask your hands to do all the work. For instance, the available voice command in-dash nav system responds directly to your voice, thanks to its multicommand audio memory. One finger controls the in-dash, 7-inch touch-screen LCD display, which also doubles as a command center for the standard in-dash 6-disc CD changer. And there’s plenty more to keep your ears busy: MAZDA 6 is first in its class to offer Bose Centerpoint Surround Sound. And Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio connectivity are standard, so you can wirelessly enjoy music from any compatible MP3 player or cell phone. An impressive network of high-tech everything. Meanwhile, your hands remain free to do the things hands would rather do. Like drive.
The cabin of the 2011 MAZDA 6 represents a huge departure from what you’ll find in typical sports sedans. By virtually every meaningful measure. With more passenger room than Camry. And even more rearseat legroom than Accord. In fact, Mazda designers looked for every opportunity to ensure that its cabin is as compelling as its performance. The innovative Welcome Lighting System activates as you enter, progressively illuminating your surroundings and setting the perfect driving mood. For passengers, extra touches of fit, finish and comfort abound, courtesy of insightful Mazda engineering. Designers even “tuned” the dimensions of both the headliner and rear-seat cushion to maximize rear-seat headroom. The result is a remarkably comfortable, quiet and accommodating interior for five. So whether you occupy the driver’s seat, the front seat or the back seat of a MAZDA 6, you’ll find it easy to echo its praises.

Mazda Nagare Luxury Winning Concept Cars
When Mazda unveiled the Nagare concept car at the LA Motor Show in 2006, it was unlike any concept car seen before; due to its exterior form language of textured surface lines and dramatic, futuristic wedge-like shape. At first the car appeared to be a complete visual change from the trio of concept vehicles that had immediately preceded it – Sassou, Senku and Kabura and no one, not even on Mazda’s design team, knew how big an impact their new design philosophy would make around the world.
The earlier trio of award-winning concept cars had all wowed audiences at the world’s motor shows in 2005 and 2006 – exhibiting a new and energetic commitment to exciting and contemporary automotive design at Mazda. But with the introduction of the Nagare concept, everything shifted. It was as dramatic an introduction as any car company could hope for.
Under Mazda’s emerging Nagare (or Flow) form language, there are many design elements that define a Mazda vehicle. The most apparent is the surface treatment itself, which suggests air or fluid flow over the vehicles’ side surfaces. This is apparent for all of the Mazda Nagare concept vehicles. Their surface designs are textured to play with light as if the car is speeding through the air, suggesting the vehicles’ dynamic driving characteristics. These surfaces vary in accordance with the vehicle type and its individual shape and characteristics, as seen in the concept cars. Although different between each of the vehicles, it is always appropriate.
Until now the majority of Mazda’s design focus has been in the evolution of the Mazda Nagare exterior form language. This has been seen in the design progression apparent in the five concept vehicles. But as Laurens van den Acker explains, the focus is shifting to how to translate Flow to the interior of future Mazda vehicles.
The Mazda Nagare interior is a different approach; it is a collection of things. We are naturally maturing this language, by approaching interior development with the goal of having a holistic philosophy Interior development is focusing on three key areas – driver orientation, lightness – which is very important to Mazda and Flow. The idea is that the combination of these three aspects will make our interiors unique and makes our cars uniquely Mazda. You could argue that other brands have driver orientation and they may be trying to be light too. But only Nagare combined with the other two can define Mazda.
This philosophy of lightness is extra-ordinarily prescient. Van den Acker believes that within an increasingly stressful world our ability to enjoy driving a Mazda may have as much to do with the purity and serenity of its interior form as it does to its driving dynamics. In terms of lightness Mazda Nagare also means less denseness, less emotional drain, less visual static: “Flow is also about not being bothered by too much information, about being given information only when you need it. We need less rather than more. Our interiors will look very simple with just a few areas of information and technology. The ultimate goal is to have a interior, created from Flow, which is calming and peaceful.”
So Mazda Nagare from an interior perspective is devoid of mental stress and anxiety. It is just as central to Mazda’s new design approach as the exterior surface textures.

Mazda BT-50 pickup
The Australian International Motor Show will be welcoming a new Mazda along with that mysterious Subaru. The next generation of the Mazda BT-50 pickup is scheduled to premiere on October 15 as an “active lifestyle vehicle.”
We’re not sure how the “modern and refined styling” will radically alter the Aussie’s take on the BT-50 or trucks in general, but according to Mazda it is a “new type of vehicle” possessed of a “universally recognizable beauty” that will increase “anticipation of the driving pleasure to come.” We suppose we’ll find out what all that means – beyond a hyperactive marketing department – come October. In the meantime, there’s a press release after the jump to wet our Aussie readers’ chops. Chance of U.S. importation to replace the now-departed B-Series? Not likely, mate.

Mazda RX-8: The Father’s Sport Car
Mazda RX-8: The Father’s Sport Car - Have children change the life of a guy. If you're a car guy, it probably means the day running a two-seater is more or less behind you - or at least, as you can find a babysitter, how many times you want your family for a back-road blast, and / or you can wait until one of your children are old enough to ride shotgun.
On the wings of the venerable Miata, Mazda has sold over two-seat roadster (900,000 more since 1989) than any other automaker. Now I have two young daughters, however, the four seats of the Mazda RX-8 used in a way I had not considered before.
I had a mild man-crush on the Mazda RX-8, when my neighbor bought a new red in 2003, and my love for cars only grew stronger when I'm driven by such Automobile Magazine Four Seasons picky in 2004. Only now, after running an RX-8 for the first time since becoming a father, however, I really appreciate the versatility of this sports car.
Although the RX-8 feel agile, good balance, and flingable very nature, is actually quite spacious inside. The best as parents, however, are the clamshell-style rear doors that provide access to a surprisingly simple super-fit pair of rear seats. Installation of two parking spaces (a fanny pack and a seat convertible) was almost as easy to do, because it is a typical sedan - and much easier than twisting itself back the Chevrolet Camaro, for example. Clamshell doors are extra wide income gap, too, so I'm out of the way when loading children. trunk of the Mazda could also be a reasonable amount of baby gear, even if the double stroller was out of the question, and the opening of the trunk is rather thin.
The only complaints I have other minors are that (1), I had to squat down more than usual for children in low-roof coupe, (2) there was no room leg much to my wife sit in front of our children is long, bulky seat, basket-treated, and (3) my two years was too much fun to blow my back (I knew there was a good Because I usually put it behind my wife).
The RX-8 would be a pretty bad head coach family do not understand. But if your family of three or four has a van, truck, or across the driveway, the car-loving parents (and mothers) are required to verify the RX-8 - especially if you can withstand the daily Summary results of the vehicle engine in cold weather and excess fuel and oil consumption.

The instant you touch the intelligent keyless button on the door, your MAZDA 3 recognizes you and comes to life before your eyes. The door unlocks. Innovative sequential welcoming illumination casts a warm glow across the interior. An eight-way, power-adjustable driver’s seat automatically hits your personal setting. Push a button and the engine starts. And that’s just for starters. The leather-trimmed tilt steering wheel is outfitted with lighted controls for audio, Bluetooth and cruise control. Bi-xenon headlights, rain-sensing wipers, a dual-zone automatic climate system and adjustable, heated front seats also await the command of your touch. This is the only car in its class that welcomes you this way. And the whole time, your key never leaves your pocket.
This is the sort of focus on detail and excellence of craft that you normally associate with pricey luxury cars. For example, meticulously stitched, highbolstered leather accent is available on the seating, steering wheel, and even the shifter. Graceful sweeping lines, exquisite detailing and subtle textures come together with uncompromising fit and finish. In fact, the more you spend time in the spacious new 2011 MAZDA 3 interior, the more you wonder at what point it all ceases to be craftsmanship and starts to become art.

Once again MAZDA 3 surprises the category. This time with unexpected versatility. 2011 MAZDA3
Sport is designed to be all about you, the open road and a ton of stuff. Including a convenient fifth door and 60/40-split fold-down rear seat; it’s as open to new experiences as you are. Like being able to easily transport longer, larger items – and still leave room for a backseat driver. And with the seats unfolded you’ve got 481 L of cargo space for sports equipment, camping gear, luggage and whatever else gets you through the long haul. Oh, and don’t worry its potent new 167-hp engine has more than enough juice to get it all to whatever exciting point B you have in mind.
2011 MAZDA 3 Safety obsessed is more like it. Bi-xenon Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS) turns the headlights up to 15ยบ to help you “see around corners” as you steer. Power-assisted, four-wheel disc brakes and Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) offer better stopping power. Front and rear crumple zones and side-impact door beams help protect everyone inside. Along with dual front air bags, dual front side-impact air bags and side-impact air curtains. Plus front active adjustable headrests. Collapsible steering column. Bottom line, if it can make you safer, we put it in the 2011 MAZDA 3.
Oh, the technological treats that await you in the new 2011 MAZDA 3. An innovative Multi-Information Display (MID) elegantly integrates and communicates audio system information, trip computer calculations, vehicle systems data, ambient temperature and maintenance reminders. And with the available navigation system, it’s all in vivid living colour. Other impressive standard features include:
Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio capabilities and a six-speaker AM/FM CD stereo (available on most models). Plus an auxiliary audio input jack for your MP3 player. SIRIUS Satellite Radio† is also available. Clearly when it comes to the latest and greatest in all things techno, MAZDA3 is beyond smart; it’s flat out gifted.

Mazda have persisted with the rotary engine despite the path being a lone furrow. And it would appear they’re not about to give up on the Wankel lump, but they may be about to give up on its host, the Mazda RX-8.
