Volkswagen

CAR REVIEW | Volkswagen | Volkswagen, more commonly known with its abbreviation "VW", is the original and biggest-selling brand of automobile of the Volkswagen (VW) Group. Volkswagen Group now also owns the Lamborghini, Bentley, Audi, SEAT, Bugatti, Scania (truck manufacturer), and marques of Škoda . On May, 28 1937, the company of "Gesellschaft zur Vorbereitung des Deutschen Volkswagen mbH" is founded, and on September 16, 1938 has been renamed "Volkswagenwerk GmbH". In early 1938, that today is Wolfsburg, work begins on the construction of the Volkswagen plant that has its own production of a new vehicle designed by Ferdinand Porsche.

Volkswagen

Volkswagen means "people's car" in German, where it is pronounced). Its current tagline or slogan is Das Auto (meaning "the Car").When in 1937 the company known as "Gesellschaft zur Vorbereitung des Deutschen Volkswagens mbH" was founded, no one could have guessed that it would one day be Europe's largest carmaker. The history of the company - with all its trials and tribulations - is first and foremost a story of impressive success.

During the Second World War Volkswagenwerk's production is switched to armaments. Some 20,000 forced labourers, prisoners of war, and later also concentration camp prisoners, work at the plant.

In September 1998, in recognition of the events of that time, VOLKSWAGEN AG established a humanitarian fund on behalf of the forced labourers compelled to work at Volkswagen during the Second World War. By the end of 2001 more than 2,050 people in 26 countries had received humanitarian aid from the fund. Furthermore, a Memorial in remembrance of the forced labour employed at the Volkswagenwerk plant is currently being established at Wolfsburg, involving contributions from present-day Volkswagen apprentices.

After the end of the Second World War, in mid June 1945, responsibility for Volkswagenwerk is placed in the hands of the British Military Government. Under the management of Major Ivan Hirst, mass production of the Volkswagen Beetle is started.

Volkswagen
Volkswagen Touareg

On March 8th, 1950 the Type 2 goes into production, expanding the company's product range. The Volkswagen Bus, still today known to many as the "VW Bully", soon creates rising demand thanks to its multifunctional capabilities. In 1956 a separate manufacturing base for the Transporter is established in Hanover, at the same time setting down the roots of today's Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand.

In 1955 employees and dealers from Germany and abroad celebrate the production of the one millionth Volkswagen Beetle in Wolfsburg.

Volkswagen
Volkswagen Bulli

On February 17th, 1972 Volkswagen breaks the world car production record: with 15,007,034 units assembled, the Beetle surpasses the legendary mark achieved by the Ford Motor Company's Model T, popularly known as the "Tin Lizzy", between 1908 and 1927.

In 1973 the Passat is the first model of the new generation of Volkswagen vehicles to go into production - with front-wheel drive, a water-cooled four-cylinder engine and a range of engines up to 110 bhp. The Passat is built in line with the modular strategy, by which standardised components usable in a range of different models provide significant rationalisation.

Volkswagen
Volkswagen Golf 2011

In January 1974 the first Golf is built at the Wolfsburg plant. The compact saloon quickly becomes a hit, and advances to become the legitimate heir to the legendary Beetle. The same year also sees the launch of the sporty Scirocco, which was to continue in production until 1981.

In 1976 the first Golf GTI rolls off the production line. The car, with its110 bhp engine, creates a real furore on the roads - and lays the foundations for the birth of a legend.

Volkswagen
Volkswagen Passat, 2011

In June 1983 production of the second-generation Golf begins. The car is designed for a largely automated assembly process, and in the specially erected final assembly hall, designated Hall 54, robots are deployed for the first time in vehicle manufacture.

With the production launch of the Lupo 3L TDI, the first production car to offer fuel consumption of just three litres per 100 kilometres, in July 1999, Volkswagen once again makes automotive history.

Volkswagen
Volkswagen Touran, 2011

In August 2002, at Volkswagen Slovakia, a.s. in Bratislava, mass production of the Touareg, a luxury-class off-road vehicle, is started, marking the Volkswagen brand's move into an entirely new market segment.

In December 2002, "Auto 5000 GmbH" company that manages the site of the factory in Wolfsburg, starts production Volkswagen Touran compact van. Special collective model has been developed, aimed at implementing lean production, and with flat hierarchies, team working, flexible working hours and the introduction of experts working multiple jobs. In 2003, the production of fifth-generation Volkswagen Golf has begun. - CAR REVIEW

2012 Volkswagen Fox New VW Fox

This Volkwagen FOX is why we have designed the Fox particularly with young drivers in mind. An irresistible entry-level price and an extensive range of optional extras allow maximum flexibility to individual price structure. And the VW Fox is also pleasantly economical to run thanks to its low fuel consumption and minimal maintenance requirements. Small exterior, huge interior. Nowhere is this principle better demonstrated than in the VW Fox. With compact exterior dimensions which make the Volkwagen Fox the ideal companion when driving around town. With a surprising amount of legroom and headroom at all four seats. With a double-folding rear seat bench which increases luggage capacity from 260 to 1,016 litres when required. And with a multitude of storage compartments which make the most of the space available.

2012 Volkswagen Fox

New VW Fox is also available with a 4 cylinder 16 valve 1.4-litre, which delivers 75PS combining spirited performance with economical fuel efficiency. Whatever kind of driver you are, wherever you want to go, we have an Petrol engine that's just right for your needs. Our manual gearboxes are highly efficient and designed to give you driving pleasure. Our 5-speed gearbox is positive and easy to use, with the top gear reducing engine revs and therefore improving fuel economy at higher speeds. Cable operation not only saves weight but also results in short lever movement when changing gear. Finally our manual gearboxes are filled with lifetime oil and need no routine maintenance.

2012 Volkswagen Fox

2012 Volkswagen Fox

Filling stations are not among the preferred destinations of the Fox. Its irresistibly low fuel consumption is sure to get people talking. The petrol engine in 40 kW (60 bhp) version (fuel consumption: 5,8 l/100km; CO2 emissions: 136 g/km) uncompromising driving pleasure and efficient consumption are united at the highest level of technology. And it goes without saying that the engine comply with the strict EU5 emission standard. The Fox inspires with its maximum safety concept. ABS for optimum braking, a reinforced occupant cell, front and side airbags as additional protection for driver and front passenger, and front fog lights for better visibility in hostile weather conditions as well. Experience the extraordinary combination of fascinating driving pleasure and an intelligent safety concept.

2012 Volkswagen Fox

2012 Volkswagen Fox

Before we even think about the paint finish on your Fox we treat the body shell with our multi-coat rust protection process. We galvanise it to guard against corrosion, add further protection to the underbody and finally apply a flawless base coat. Then we use a cathodic electroprimer, applied by total emersion in a dip bath. This electrostatic process uses the positive and negative elements of an electric current to draw the paint into every corner of the body. Following each application the layer is thoroughly dried and prepared ready for the next process. Now we apply the filler (primer) coat which provides a depth and level to the overall paint layer. The body is then dried in a high temperature (120 degress centigrade) oven, and only then is the Fox ready for the application of the colour coat and subsequent glossy clear coat. This forms the quality, weather proof surface that you expect from a Volkswagen.

The Fox has a lot to offer. The two-person, folding rear seat bench can be adapted to suit your requirements and makes it possible to transport larger items by creating a luggage capacity of 1,016 litres. The height-adjustable driver’s seat ensures a comfortable drive and a good view. The electronic immobiliser and useful details such as cup holders, holder for 1 litre bottles, 12 Volt power socket and a number of flexible storage compartments make the Fox a resourceful companion on both short and long journeys. Individuality was a crucial factor in designing the Fox. Increased flexibility and comfort in the use of space is the innovative result: the rear seat bench is folding and can be split symmetrically; it can be moved forwards and backwards and double-folded, and intelligently adapts the luggage compartment to individual requirements. Manually vented side windows at the rear ensure fresh air without generating a draught.

Next Generation 2012 Volkswagen Jetta

The Volkswagen Jetta always cuts an excitingly good figure. Its sporty silhouette and well proportioned lateral lines give it a look that is simply irresistible, as do the striking front end, the sporty radiator grille and the bumpers that are completely painted in the body colour. A stylish design as far as the eye can see. The Volkswagen Jetta perfectly combines the assets of a top-class saloon with the clear attributes of a compact class car, and it inspires with supreme quality. You can see this with a simple glance at the selected details, for example the chrome strips on the vanes, or the tinted side windows and rear window, which absorb up to 65% of the light.

 2012 Volkswagen Jetta

2012 Volkswagen Jetta

The VW Jetta has far more space than your average car. From the drivers seat all the way back to the rear. Passengers in both the front and the rear will appreciate the ample knee space. With a little more luggage, the boot comes into its own with a capacity of 510 litres. And if you need to carry even more, the backrest can be folded down, allowing you to practically load the goods through. Keep a cool head, or do you prefer it nice and warm? With the "Climatronic" air conditioning system, you can change from one pleasant climate zone to another at the touch of a button. The temperature is electronically controlled, and each side of the car is controlled independently of the other. While you concentrate on driving, an air quality sensor monitors the quality of the outside air and automatically switches to air recirculation mode if this is necessary.

2012 Volkswagen Jetta

2012 Volkswagen Jetta

That makes sporty driving fun. Tried-and-tested TSI technology in the Jetta generates maximum power even from a small displacement and it does so with minimum fuel consumption. The direct injection petrol engine is efficiently charged with either a turbocharger or with a combination of turbocharger and compressor. That enables the fuel to be burned so efficiently that the output of the TSI engines is significantly higher than that of conventional, naturally aspirated engines.

The Jetta with BlueMotion Technology impresses with greatly reduced fuel consumption and lower emissions despite putting in a more dynamic performance. This is made possible by intelligent technology that reduces the engine idling speed. By the longer transmission ratio in the higher gears. By the tyres which have been optimised with respect to rolling resistance. And not least by the gear-change recommendation indicator assuming you follow its advice by engaging the most efficient gear.

2012 Volkswagen Jetta

The four-link system accurately controls the longitudinal and lateral movement of each rear wheel individually. Refinement is further improved as the system is mounted on a lightweight sub-frame. This means suspension movement is isolated from the body. Occupant benefits include greater comfort, less body roll in corners and, an involving, nimble chassis with enhanced stability. The dusk sensor system is fitted close to the rain sensor, behind your internal mirror. It detects light levels and automatically turns on the dipped headlights when the levels are low for instance, when you are driving through a tunnel, at night, or when dusk sets in. Your headlights must be switched on for the dusk sensors to work.

2012 Volkswagen New Passat BlueMotion Technology

The Volkswagen Passat impresses at first glance with a sophisticated design that exudes dynamism and self-assurance. From the striking front to the elegant rear: perfectly coordinated details produce a design full of esprit. Stylish, sleek and modern, the VW Passat Estate boasts an unmistakable Volkswagen design. The horizontal lines of the radiator grille are accentuated by elegant chrome louvres and lend the striking front an air of self-assured elegance. The powerful contour of the C pillar creates a dynamic transition to the rear. The first four-door luxury coupé from Volkswagen sets new trends in the area of design. Pure sports car dynamics and uncompromising saloon-style comfort are the characteristic features of the new Passat CC. And the sporty styling is continued at the same high level inside the car: the spacious interior is impressive for its sophisticated materials and the optional panoramic tilting sunroof with its view of the heavens.

Fresh styling means the VW New Passat Saloon now sports the
distinctive Volkswagen 'family face' with a pair of swept-back
headlights framing a distinctive radiator grille with chrome louvres.
Black air intakes with chrome surrounds are added to body-coloured
bumpers and door mirrors to create a smart finish to your Passat Saloon.
At the rear you'll notice the revised LED tail-lights and bumper, while
a new set of alloy wheels and heat insulating green tinted glass
complete the Passat Saloon's dynamic good looks.

2012 Volkswagen New Passat

2012 Volkswagen New Passat

Volkswagen's BlueMotion Technology badge identifies the most economical models in the Passat Saloon range, with a host of refinements that are kinder to the environment and also save you money at the pumps. The Passat Saloon with BlueMotion Technology is the most efficient Passat we've ever produced with the 1.6-litre TDI 105PS diesel model achieving an impressive 65.7 mpg (combined figure) and emitting just 114g/km of CO2.

2012 Volkswagen New Passat

2012 Volkswagen New Passat

The BlueMotion Technology models are a result of their work, designed with a range of energy-saving, emission-cutting technologies to work in synergy with our advanced engines and gearboxes. The measures include visual gear change recommendations for optimum fuel consumption, brake energy recuperation and improved aerodynamics, as well as low rolling resistance tyres and a Stop/Start function. This cleverly switches off the engine when your Passat Saloon is stationary and in neutral and start it again as you depress the clutch.

Whether you prefer it as a saloon or as an estate, one thing is for sure: the Passat R36 with its 220 kW (300 hp) is the most powerful Passat ever. And superlatives are also entirely appropriate to describe its looks. The "Biscay Blue, pearl effect" paint finish, the motorsport-style bumpers typical of the R series and the body-colour wheel arch and sill extensions are genuine highlights. (Fuel consumption: 10.5 l/100 km; CO2 emissions: 249 g/km)

2012 Volkswagen New Passat Interior

If someone tries to break into your locked Passat Saloon the alarm will sound and the hazard lights flash continuously. The alarm's interior protection system detects movement inside the car, but can be turned off if you have to leave pets inside for a short time. The Passat Saloon is fitted with our latest Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP), which detects critical situations at an early stage, and takes action to help bring your car safely back under control. ESP links to the Passat Saloon's electronic systems such as the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Engine Braking Control (EBC). It has sensors on the wheels and steering wheel, plus a yaw movement sensor. The ESP plays a further role, utilising electronic differential lock and traction control to help correct oversteer, understeer and loss of stability of the vehicle. The result is optimum traction when rounding bends.

2012 Volkswagen Beetle Classic Modern Concept

The History Volkswagen Beetle was only produced in significant numbers from 1945 onwards, when the model was internally designated the Volkswagen Type 1, and marketed simply as the "Volkswagen". Later models were designated VW 1200, 1300, 1500, 1302 or 1303, the former three indicating engine displacement and the latter two being derived from the type number and not indicative of engine capacity. The Volkswagen Beetle model became widely known in its home country as the Käfer (German for "beetle") and was later marketed as such in Germany and as the Volkswagen Beetle in other countries. In the 1950s, the Beetle was more comfortable and powerful than most European small cars, having been designed for sustained high speed on the Autobahn. It remained a top seller in the U.S., owing much of its success to high build-quality and innovative advertising, ultimately giving rise to variants, including the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia and the Volkswagen Type 2 van.

2012 Volkswagen Beetle Interior-Dasboard

The New 2012 Volkswagen Beetle has spread its wings for the 21st century and now boasts a more self-assured road presence. Its proportions give it a far more masculine, flatter and wider appearance. Its silhouette with an extended bonnet, a more steeply angled windscreen set further back and a flat roof line injects it with an unprecedented dynamism, similar to that of a sporty coupé. The Beetle is no exception here, with its dynamic silhouette producing an entirely new sense of spaciousness in the interior. The steeper windscreen positioned further back, a flattened roof line and the enlarged exterior dimensions combine to create a surprising amount of room. The 2012 VW Beetle pays homage to its roots: a compact instrument cluster with an eye-catching round dial in the centre evoke memories of the classic Beetle. Air vents and state-of-the-art infotainment features have, of course, been seamlessly integrated into the dashboard.

2012 Volkswagen Polo GTI Sporty Responsive

The new Volkswagen Polo GTI Character is often used as a synonym for assertiveness, confidence and aplomb: quite appropriate terms to describe the Polo, in fact. Want some proof? Look no further than its powerful petrol and common rail engines. Sometimes one glance is all you need but the VW Polo is a car you’ll want to look at time and again. There’s always something new to discover about its striking exterior with its distinctive, fascinating features. Its muscular body, for instance, or the slightly slanted headlights connected by the wide band of black radiator fins, and the athletically sculpted doors. The Volkswagen Polo has launched a new class with its all-new design, spacious feel and high quality standards. Its attention to detail and pursuit of perfection make the VW Polo the ideal choice for lovers of maxing out minimalism and the finer things in life. 2012 Volkswagen Polo GTI

2012 Volkswagen Polo

Volkswagen satisfies the high expectations of its customers in every respect with the Polo including its environmental impact: the fifth generation of the Polo sets new benchmarks with extremely clean-running and economical engines coupled with intelligent design. The Polo stands up to the closest scrutiny, as demonstrated by the Environmental Commendation it has been awarded. The environmentally sound development of this highly successful compact car represents an important step towards sustainable mobility for all.

2012 Volkswagen Polo

2012 Volkswagen Polo GTI

They boast low fuel consumption, produce fewer emissions and are great fun: the modern petrol engines from Volkswagen. For the Polo you have the choice of a 44 kW (60 hp), 51 kW (70 hp) or a 63 kW (85 hp) engine - all of which of course comply with the Euro 5 standard (fuel consumption: 5.5-5.9 l/100 km; CO2 emissions: 128-139 g/km). Lighter, more efficient and above all: cleaner. The innovative common rail diesel engines, always sporty and frugal, are now on a par with TSI engines when it comes to environmental compatibility. The 55 kW (75 hp) engine complies with the Euro 5 standard and will take you much further on one tank of fuel (fuel consumption: 4.2 l/100 km; CO2 emissions: 109 g/km).

2012 Volkswagen Polo GTI Interior-Dasboard

The Polo GTI is one such case. And though you may enjoy this car for a long time to come thanks to Volkswagen’s proven quality it must be said that you won’t be the only one: the Polo will keep several generations mobile. Before the driving fun starts the Polo will demand your full attention with its sophisticated interior: high-quality surfaces that look and feel good, a sporty 3-spoke steering wheel and plenty of storage compartments for all the things you can’t do without in your Polo: mobile phone, drinks, CDs and so on.

2012 Volkswagen New Eos Luxury Concept Performance

The Volkswagen new Eos fuses both in great style. This is clearly visible from its new Volkswagen face too: black-painted radiator grille fins with chrome edging, fog lights with chrome surrounds and static cornering lights, as well as halogen main headlights with turn signals housed behind a single clear-glass lens set it apart as a member of the Volkswagen family, yet still convey its independent personality.  Close your eyes, count to 25 and imagine a gentle breeze blowing across your face. For that is exactly how long the five-part CSC roof system takes to disappear out of sight into the tail of the new Eos and transform it from sporty coupé to chic cabriolet.

2012 Volkswagen New Eos

2012 Volkswagen New Eos

The VW New Eos has been consistently geared towards optimising fuel consumption and reducing pollutants. That is why the smooth-running, high-torque four-cylinder common-rail TDI engines are fitted with a diesel particulate filter. And regardless of which engine variant you prefer, power is effortlessly transmitted to the front wheels via the 6-speed manual gearbox or the 6-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox. The TSI engines in the new Eos thrill with their agility, powerful response and perfectly smooth running. Another highlight are the TSI engines with BlueMotion technology, which excel by achieving significantly reduced fuel consumption and low emissions combined with dynamic performance.

2012 Volkswagen New Eos

2012 Volkswagen New Eos

The VW New Eos “Light Assist” main beam control system can put an end to this. Using a camera installed behind the windscreen, it can detect oncoming traffic or vehicles driving ahead and use this information to automatically switch between dipped and main beam, depending on the vehicle’s own speed. The headlights are dipped in good time, as soon as the oncoming road user has been detected. The system only switches back to the main beam headlights again once the road user has passed and can no longer be dazzled.

2012 Volkswagen New Eos

2012 Volkswagen New Eos

The VW new Eos is a fully-fledged four-seater, which can offer four individualists all the free space they need. The passengers in the rear also have sufficient room to enjoy every trip to the full. And getting into the rear is made perfectly straightforward too, thanks to the "Easy Entry" function. The entry function even operates electrically if the electrically adjustable front seats are fitted. With this feature, the front seats glide gracefully forwards. Safety and optimum occupant protection are a top priority in the Eos. For this reason, it comes with an active roll-over protection system that is operative whether the hood is open or closed. If need be, its supporting sections automatically shoot upwards by up to 265 millimetres in the space of just 0.25 seconds to protect everyone on board.

And you can bring out even greater intensity with the addition of extravagant touches like the “Interlagos” 18-inch alloy wheels with their turbine-inspired design.
